The ethnological collection is displayed in the Venetian-Gothic house on the outskirts of the town and represents the material and spiritual rural culture.
The exhibition shows the struggle of the Slovenes in Slovene Istria, Brkini and Ilirska Bistrica for survival and their endeavour for the integration with the parent nation.
The museum armoury displays weapons from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
The oldest mention of collecting works of art dates back to the second half of the 15th century, when early humanistic ideas became rooted in the region.
