Two Fantastic Landscapes

This painter of dreamlike Venetian vedute mostly served foreign clients, who visited the “fairytale city” of Venice. His marriage to Angela Fontana, the daughter of the wealthiest trader in paintings, provided a living for the numerous assistants in his well-known painter's workshop. The topographical images and products with sought-after scenery place his works among the greatest achievements of Venetian vedutisti. Despite his short life he left behind a rich heritage, which was continued by his pupils.
