The church of St. Helen

According to church records, this is the third church on the same site. The old church and parish were founded around the year 1633, witnessed by the plaque with the coat of arms of nobles Oberburg. Above the church entrance there is the year in which the upgrade was done, in 1658. The present church's the foundation stone was laid in 1866, under the then parish priest Matej Frelih, who began building the large parish church of St. Helen and in just two years, with great effort from the parishioners, also completed it. The church is built is pseudo-romanic style with strong baroque characteristics. The main altar is a painting of St. Helen, the work of painter P. Kumla in 1856. Only the lower part of the altar is preserved, while the upper part was renovated during the construction of the new church. The church is very famous for Tone King's paintings from 1921, which can be found inside the church.
